Depends. What operating system are you running? If DOS, Windows 3.x, Windows 95/98 or Windows NT, yes, you can make it run. Actually, I might be wrong about NT - I haven't tried it yet... Mathias? I defer to the ultimate Xtree-dude.

If you are using DOS or Win3x, it'll run just fine.

But if you're using Long Filenames (Win 95/98), XtreeGold won't be able to view them properly. It *will* typically be able to copy files okay, but the resulting (destination) filename will be the short name with the tilde character in it. Xtree will still have its memory limitations, which is why I gave up trying to use it.

Fortunately there are plenty of Xtree Clones out there that solve this problem. See Mathias' clones page (click link below). Most people here will tell you that Ztree is the best clone there is of XtreeGold. It really acts exactly like XtreeGold did, but without all the limitations it had, and has made us old XtreeGold fanatics very happy. Give it a try. www.ztree.com
