Thanks Walter for the connect/disconnect scheme. of course, this is usually the best solution for offline browsing.

Unfortunately, I did not find to be the a workable solution in my case. It happens that I often have hard times to get an available line with my Internet provider (my university). Despite its 100 modems and fast Internet connections, the computing department has difficulties to address the needs of more than 40,000 users during semesters. Thus, when I get a line, I usually try to keep it as long as needed, and not connect/disconnect all the time.

Of course, I could subscribe to another Internet provider, but then I wouldn't have the deal I have now (very low cost and some exclusive library services).

I agree that this awkward situation is not a common one. One solution I am investigating now is to use a Web site grabber, such as Teleport or the latest IE4, just to download all the Xtree Forum Web pages at once an be able to read it offline.

Though, a still believe that an email listerv would nicely complement a Web-based forum if the two could be integrated. I understand that the latest version of WebBBS seems to allow exactly that.

Thanks for your suggestion.
