If using IE3 or earlier (AOL's?), BACK doesn't work.

It depends. You may have done nothing wrong... I've been developing several web applications recently and have noticed that Internet Explorer 3.0 does NOT keep form fields populated when using the *browser's* BACK button. This sucks and was fixed in IE4, thankfully!

But, I think AOL's browser is based on IE3, so it may have the same problem. I'm not sure about that though.

If you're using Netscape, it should work fine - if you really are using your BROWSER's Back button - the server scripts shouldn't have anything to do with it.

Hope this helps!

Dan
