I myself have not "upgraded" to win98 (and maybe I'll never do...?),
cause looking at all the trouble people report I think there's likely
more new bugs than enhancements... :-7

Anyway, what you could try to do is to invoke XTreeGold's configuration
program (Alt-F10) and on the first page change the
item #4 "Disk logging method" from "Quick" to "Standard".

It is said that in some cases this *may* help.
