In Response To: Testing F6... (Dan LeGate)

Ahhh... I think there is some confusion here (probably my fault in fact)...

The F6 functions you mention have been there for a long time... The NEW
item is, the "Merge Tags" function available on a split (file) screen under
ctrl-F6 (Kim did not enable it on a directory screen -- XTree didn't have it
there -- However, it would seem to be useful there as well -- Please Kim?)

If it works like the old XTree, what happens is that ALL of the tags on the
current half of the split are merged (OR-ed) into the tagging on the other
side. This was done for all logged drives, branches, etc. without regard to
whether the tagged files were visible or not...

A possible (and possibly useful -- if other people would want such a
function, we should say so and maybe Kim might add it) variation would be to
just merge over the tags from the currently selected files, with the old
XTree form effectively obtained by doing a ctrl-Global and then a merge.

Other variations that might be useful (I've suggested them to Kim but not
publicly before) would be an "AND" function and possibly some way of having
more than one set of tags -- However, these might take a significant amount
of work to implement and provide enough functions to make them useful, so
we would probably have to suggest a pretty complete design AND enough
people who would want them before Kim would consider implementing them...
I would find such functions useful, but I do a lot of "strange" things...
