Right on, Bud. However, although XTree 1.0 was released in 1985, XTreeGold 3.0 wasn't released until 1993 according to the timeline at >http://www.xtreefanpage.org/x23chron.htm But, I know what you mean. It's still an essential tool for modern computing.

Yep, I've used it successfully on Win95, 98, 98SE, NT4, and Win2K. I'm holding off using XP for a while longer yet.

As a fan of the DOS XTreeGold versions I found only disappointment in XTreeGold for Windows 4.0, the final successor to the XTree name, as described at >http://www.xtreefanpage.org/x30vers.htm#XTGW4

The best successor to DOS XTreeGold 3.0 for modern Windows is ZTreeWin described at >http://www.xtreefanpage.org/x63clone.htm#ZTreeWin and available for shareware trial from >http://www.ztree.com/html/ztreewin.htm

ZTreeWin is what XTreeGold coulda, shoulda, woulda been if it hadn't been killed in a corporate takeover. It not only handles long filenames, it handles big (huge) hard drives and literally millions of files at once. And though it has almost all the same functions and keystrokes as XTreeGold 3.0 it's latest beta versions have added much more powerful and useful features than any DOS program ever could have.

PLUS, ZTreeWin is still being actively, VERY actively, developed and supported. It even has quite a community of fans frequenting the ZTreeWin Unofficial Homepage at >http://www.vico1.com/ including a forum like this one. It's a true shareware bargain at just $30.00(US).

Hope this helps.
