I loved XTree and all its variations. I still use XTree Gold on my GRID 386 portable with WordPerfect 5.0. For taking boring notes, the speed of the old DOS machine, not to mention battery life, beats the goofy Pentium units. I put portables together for my fellow students, at a small profit, and add in either XTree or Lotus Magellan if available. It is so easy to use!

On my desktop Celery 500, I use Fix-It 99, which includes Power Desk. This program from Mijenix runs $5 to $30 on ebay. One nice feature for us old throwbacks is you can set it for a classic XTree command setup for the keys. You get to use the archive, file readers for newer bloat ware programs, long file names etc. and use the commands as intended.
