XTree is not a document management system in the sense you're looking for. It's a file management tool that can do a. and b. above quite well, but not c. and d. at all, as far as I've seen over the last 15 years.

Depending on the scope of your needs and the depths of your pockets, you might look at the likes of FileNet.Com, and others, for corporate "solutions" involving sophisticated hardware/software packages. On the other extreme, you might check the shareware sites on the web for some low-cost personal-type document management software.
