I simply call good old FORMAT.COM from ZTree's ALT-F2 command, so I don't get the Windows GUI format utility.
Another advantage is that the progress of formatting in percent is displayed.

Here how it works:

- put a ZFORMAT.BAT into the ZTree directory, which contains:
start C:\ZTree\ZFormat2.bat

- and ZFormat2.bat contains (Win2K here):
@echo off
color 0F
echo.
echo FORMAT A:
echo.
echo ATT.: All Data On Floppy Will Be Purged !
echo.
FORMAT A:
echo.
echo ----------
pause

NOTE: the 2nd batch file is opened in a new CMD box (using START),
so ZTree keeps usable while the floppy is being formatted.

Best regards
Hartmut
